The Village of Wind Point is pleased to announce that the 2016 Lighthouse Tower Climb season begins on Sunday, June 5, 2016. Lighthouse tower tours offer a unique opportunity to take in breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and Racine, while hearing the history and stories of this historic landmark.

Tickets for public tours are $10 for ages 12 & over and $5 for ages 6-12. For safety reasons, children under 6 are not allowed to climb.  The 144 stair climb to the top leads to a one of a kind view that is well-worth the effort. While not required, reservations can be made online at www.windpointlighthouse.org/towertours. Tours take place every half hour between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.  There will be food, concessions and lighthouse-related gifts for available sale throughout the day.  Piggly Wiggly Erie Street will make a donation to the lighthouse for each climber throughout the 2016 season to the lighthouse maintenance fund.

In addition to June 5, tours will be held on the first Sunday of the month until October: July 3, August 7, September 4, and October 2. The Lighthouse Keepers are also looking for volunteers to assist on all of these dates, so if you are interested in being more involved, please contact Mike & Susan Arts at [email protected].

Besides these public tours, the Wind Point Lighthouse is available for private rentals for weddings, meetings and other events. A special marriage proposal package is also now available. The lighthouse grounds are open to the public daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

More information about tower tours, rentals, and the history of the lighthouse can be obtained online at windpointlighthouse.org.
