In an effort to help maintain property values, the Village Board is considering a “property maintenance ordinance.” The draft ordinance was discussed at the regular meetings on July 10 and August 14, and was referred back to staff for further revisions.
Similar to property maintenance ordinances in other neighboring municipalities, the ordinance would establish basic standards for exterior property upkeep. Village residents had an opportunity submit input to the Village Board before August 14 by completing an online web form. A total of 16 responses were submitted, raising various ideas and concerns about the draft ordinance. Responses were passed onto the Village Board before the August 14 meeting. The Village Board discussed the ordinance and referred it back to staff for further revisions. The ordinance will be discussed again at the September meeting.
